Should I follow the training program of Elite Runners?
Elite athletes tend to be the example that the everyday athlete looks to for training guidance. If it becomes fashionable amongst elites to train in a certain way, or a particularly successful athlete trains using a certain method, then other athletes, elite and otherwise, adopt those training methods. This obviously raises some important questions – where do elites get their training programs? Are their training programs rigorously tested by scientists as the most effective method for training or do the elites get them from somewhere else? And most importantly, are the training methods of the elites the best training methods for non-elite athletes? Part 4 addresses these questions.
